Membership

The members of National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Long Island Chapter, Inc. (NCBW Long Island Chapter Inc.) are active leaders who have assumed responsible roles in their various professions, and reside and/or work in Nassau or Suffolk Counties.

Individually NCBW Long Island Chapter, Inc. members have exhibited outstanding leadership qualities and received numerous honors and awards. They have also served as board trustees and or directors of many organizations.  Including, the American Red Cross in Nassau County, Empire State College Foundation, Farmingdale State College SUNY, Mercy Medical Center, Nassau Community College, St Francis Hospital, Suffolk County Human Rights Commission, The League of Women Voters, The Library Boards of the Towns of Hempstead, Roosevelt and Westbury  and United Way of Long Island.

The basic membership criteria as characterized by the Charter Members remains: active community leaders, residing or working in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, who agree to act in accordance with the purposes and aims of the organization. Member candidates must have documented evidence of community service and/or active political, professional and volunteer leadership. Women who wish to contribute to the growth and success of the organization are encouraged to join.

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS
The business of the Corporation is addressed at regular membership meetings. The Annual Meeting is held in June at which directors and officers are elected and new members are inducted. The fifteen-member Board of Directors conducts the daily operation of the Corporation.

OPEN PROGRAM MEETINGS
Throughout the year, the Corporation hosts special program meetings that are open to the general public who may be interested in the topic to be addressed. Dynamic speakers are invited to address various topics.
